NEWS RELEASE - Fatal Traffic Accident Investigation

On Friday, February 28, 2020 at approximately 10:11 AM, Officers from the Shiloh Police Department and O’Fallon Police Department responded to a two-vehicle traffic accident on Frank Scott Parkway near Fountain Lakes Drive.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a Chrysler Town and Country travelling east bound on Frank Scott Parkway crossed the center line of traffic and struck a Mercury Grand Marquis travelling west bound on Frank Scott Parkway head on. The driver of the Mercury Grand Marquis was identified as; Clarence A. Tritley, 102 years of age, of Belleville. Tritley received medical attention at the scene before being transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the Chrysler Town and Country was transported by ambulance to a local hospital to receive medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver is not being identified at this time due to the ongoing investigation by the Shiloh Police Department and the Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit. However, the driver has been fully cooperative with investigators. There is no current indication that alcohol and/or drugs were a factor.
We would like to express our condolences to the family of Mr. Tritley during this difficult time.
