On Monday, October 26, 2020 the Shiloh Police Department were dispatched to a domestic disturbance at an apartment complex in the 1st block of York Port Drive. Upon arrival, officers determined a subject living in the apartment failed to register as a sex offender as required. The male subject was taken into custody. The case was submitted to the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office for review.
On Wednesday, October 28, 2020, Assistant State’s Attorney Beth Nester issued warrant #2020WA01970 for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender Subsequent a Class 2 Felony, charging Derek L. Burton, 21, of the 1st block of York Port Drive with the above crime.
The warrant was reviewed by St. Clair County Judge Haida who set Burton’s bond at $30,000.00 with 10% applying. Burton is currently in custody at the St. Clair County Jail.
