NEWS RELEASE - Possession of a Firearm by a Felon

On Friday, January 15, 2021 at 7:19 P.M. Shiloh Officers were dispatched to the Circle K Gas station located at 105 South Main Street in Shiloh in reference to a suspicious male. The male was described to be taking food without paying, acting strangely, and the clerks believed he had a weapon on his person. Upon arrival, the officers met with the male and after conducting a search of his person found a loaded firearm on his person. The suspect did not have a Conceal and Carry license, or a valid Illinois F.O.I.D card and was taken into custody. The results of this investigation were submitted to the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office for review.

On Sunday, January 17, 2021, St. Clair County Assistant State’s Attorney Grant Simon issued a two-count warrant: #21CF0008501 for a Felon in Possession of a Firearm, a Class 3 Felony, and #21CF0008502 for Unlawful Use of a Weapon in a place licensed to sell intoxicating beverages, a Class 4 Felony, charging Charles G. Thomas, 32, from the 8000 block of Oak Hill School Road in Lebanon Illinois with the above crimes.

 The warrant was reviewed by St. Clair County Judge Thomas Cannady who set Thomas’s bond at $45,000 with 10% applying. Thomas is currently in custody at the St. Clair County Jail for want of bond.
