NEWS RELEASE - Attempted Aggravated Robbery

On June 28, 2021 at 11:23 P.M. the Shiloh Police Department was dispatched to the 700 block of Santa Anna Court in reference to a suspicious subject banging on a residence door. Upon arrival, officers were advised the subject had been chased by another individual with a gun. While speaking with the victim, officers were advised the victim knew the suspect, and the suspect had been following the victim in his vehicle. The suspect blocked the victim’s vehicle with his, pointed a gun at him through his vehicle’s window, and demanded money. The suspect fled the scene on foot. After a search of the surrounding area, the suspect was located and taken into custody. The case was presented to the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office for warrant review.
On June 30, 2021, St. Clair County Assistant States Attorney Elizabeth Nester issued a two-count warrant #21CF0103101 for Attempted Aggravated Robbery, a Class 2 Felony, and #21CM0001485 for Aggravated Assault, a Class A Misdemeanor, each charging Ontourio L. Eiland Jr, 19, of the 5000 block of Duke Drive in Fairview Heights with the above crimes.
The warrants were reviewed by St. Clair County Judge Zina Cruise who set Eiland’s Bond at $50,000.00 with 10% applying. Eiland is currently in custody at the St. Clair County Jail for want of bond.
