NEWS RELEASE - Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer

On Friday, January 12, 2024 at approximately 7:34 P.M., Officers from the Shiloh Police Department were dispatched to the 800 block of Hawkridge Run in Shiloh in reference to a domestic disturbance in progress.  Upon their arrival, they met with the victim and suspect.  While attempting to determine what happened during the call, the suspect tried to force his way past a Shiloh Officer in the direction of the victim.  The Shiloh Officer attempted to stop the suspect, and the suspect grabbed the officer, and started to fight the officer.  The suspect was taken into custody, and the Shiloh officer took himself to the hospital and was released with non-life-threatening injuries.

On Sunday, January 14, 2024, St. Clair County Assistant State Attorney Elizabeth McQuage issued warrant #24CF0008601 for Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer, a Class 2 Felony, and warrant #24CF0008602 for Resisting a Peace Officer Causing Injury, a Class 4 Felony, charging Nicholas A. Garner, 37, of the 800 block of Hawkridge Run in Shiloh with the above crimes.

The warrants were reviewed by St. Clair County Judge Jeffrey Watson who signed Garner’s warrants valid.  Garner is currently in custody at the St. Clair County Jail pending a pre-trial detention hearing.
