On Monday, January 22, 2024, at approximately 12:44 P.M., the Shiloh Police Department performed a traffic stop on Country Meadow Lane. During the stop probable cause was developed to search the vehicle and a firearm was located inside the vehicle. A second firearm was located on a passenger inside the vehicle. Two suspects were taken into custody, and the results of the case were submitted to the St. Clair County State's Attorney's Office for review.
On Tuesday, January 23, 2024, St. Clair County Assistant State's Attorney Beth Nester issued warrant, #24CF0013601, for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, a Class 4 Felony, charging Damontae A. Eiland, 19, of the first block West Adams Drive in Cahokia Heights with the above crime.
The warrant was reviewed by St. Clair County Judge Sara Rice, who signed Eiland's warrant valid. He was in the custody of the St. Clair County Jail, but has since been released pending future court proceedings.
The case against the second individual has been taken under advisement by the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office and he was released pending further investigation.
