NEWS RELEASE - Aggravated Driving Under the Influence

On Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at approximately 12:59 P.M., the Shiloh Police Department responded to a hit-and-run traffic crash on the parking lot of Dierberg's located at 4000 Green Mount Crossing Drive.

Upon contact with the reporting party, a suspect vehicle and driver were established. Officers located the suspect vehicle before it was able to leave the Village of Shiloh. Through investigation, Officers determined the driver's license to be suspended/revoked. Additionally, Officers determined the driver to be driving under the influence. The driver was subsequently taken into custody. The case was forwarded to the St. Clair County State's Attorney's Office for warrant review.

On Thursday, April 25, 2024 St. Clair County Assistant State's Attorney Beth Nester issued a three-count warrant #24CF0068001 for Aggravated Driving Under the Influence, a Class 4 Felony, #24CF0068002, for Driving While License is Revoked- Subsequent, a Class 4 Felony, and #24CF0068003 for Unlawful Possession of Cannabis More Than 100 Grams And Less Than 500 Grams, a Class 4 Felony, charging Richie L. Cole, 56, of the 1100 block of 14th Street in Carlyle, Illinois with the above crimes.

The warrants were reviewed by St. Clair County Judge Sara Rice, who signed the warrants as valid. Cole is in the custody of the St. Clair County Jail at this time.
