Shiloh, Illinois— The Shiloh Police Department announced it issued 30 citations for hands-free law violations during April’s Distracted Driving Awareness Month enforcement campaign.  In addition, we took the following enforcement action:

  • 3 arrests for suspended/revoked driver’s license
  • 1 arrest for suspended registration
  • 1 warrant arrest
  • 1 arrest for operation of a vehicle without a required ignition lock
  • 1 citation for speeding
  • 1 citation for operating uninsured vehicle
  • 1 citation for window tint
  • 24 written warnings for additional traffic violations

Driver distraction is a persistent issue in Shiloh that often has life-altering consequences. Issuing a citation is a proven way to get motorists to pay attention or pay the price. Distracted Driving Awareness Month may be over, but we will continue our efforts to stop motorists from engaging in this deadly behavior.

The Shiloh Police Department joined forces with the Illinois State Police, local law enforcement and highway safety partners for this enforcement effort.

The Illinois distracted driving campaign was funded with federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
